KUCHING: The 13th Sarawak state election will be held on Dec 12.

Election Commission chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said Nov 28 had been set for nomination day, while early voting would be held on Dec 8. The election writ was issued today.

He said the EC had received official notification of the dissolution from the Sarawak state assembly speaker before deciding to hold the election for all 82 seats.

"Applications for all categories of postal voting, both within and outside the country, have been open since Oct 26," he said at a press conference.

The EC has appointed 82 returning officers, assisted by 305 assistant returning officers throughout Sarawak.

The EC has also set up 82 election campaign enforcement teams to monitor campaign activities throughout the official campaign period. The teams comprise representatives from the police, local authorities and contesting candidates.

Ramlan said the electoral roll to be used was the latest register up to the September 2026 Supplementary Electoral Roll, updated as of Oct 25.

There are 2,058,781 registered voters in Sarawak.

Of the total, 13,575 are military personnel and 10,833 policemen, along with their spouses.
