Manchester United eye Conte as pressure mounts on Carrick

Antonio Conte’s sabbatical could be cut short, with Manchester United reportedly considering him should they move on from Michael Carrick.

According to Corriere della Sera, via Calciomercato, Conte sits at the top of United’s list after a disappointing start to the season, four points from their opening four Premier League fixtures.

Carrick signed a new deal only months ago, running to June 2029, having taken over from the sacked Ruben Amorim last January and steered the club into the Champions League. Even so, the appeal of an experienced, proven winner is said to be tempting the hierarchy.

Conte also linked with Juventus return

The ex-Juventus boss has been out of work since May, when he terminated his Napoli contract a year early. The report stresses he would only return for a major club with a project matching his ambitions.

The timing is awkward for Juventus, where Luciano Spalletti is under scrutiny after the Bianconeri’s second-worst league start in eight years. Spalletti is contracted until June 2028 and was publicly backed this week, but a section of the support would welcome their former coach back.
