Punisher’s Ultimate Weapons Debuts, With Infinity Gauntlet-Level Potential

Having participated in the Midnight universe’s momentous three-book launch earlier this week, Marvel Comics writer Benjamin Percy is quite the busy bee lately between Midnight Fantastic Four, Wade Wilson: Deadpool, The Punisher, and more. Indeed, while the Fantastic Four embark on a cosmic horror journey, perhaps their most harrowing adventure ever, silliness and grotesqueries abound in Percy’s ongoing Deadpool and Punisher books, both of which began in February 2026 and are neck-and-neck in terms of how many issues have been released thus far.
The Punisher and Wade Wilson: Deadpool couldn’t be more different tonally, not unlike how polar opposite these series’ titular protagonists are, but that’s also what makes them a wonderful peanut butter and strawberry jam pairing in Marvel Comics’ “Big Guns” crossover event. Here, it’s being teased that Frank Castle may finally be able to save his loved ones by wielding a ridiculously overpowered weapon that has the power to literally rewrite history.
The Punisher #8 ended on a cliffhanger, with Punisher obtaining a literal time gun using a Level 5 S.H.I.E.L.D. security clearance card to access it in a “decommissioned S.H.I.E.L.D. vault” that Deadpool and Blind Al were hired to break into and steal from. Recently, preview pages for Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9 have revealed that this time gun is only loaded with “10 uniquely crafted bullets,” and confirm that Deadpool being anywhere near something as powerful as a gun that can kill anything in history is a recipe for something horrible to happen.
Deadpool hurls a katana at Punisher, impaling his hand—a superficial injury for an unstoppable bat out of Hell like Frank. This causes Punisher to drop the gun, which fires upon hitting the floor and opens a blue portal roughly 10,000 years in the past, blasting a saber-toothed tiger’s head clean off.
Amusingly, Marvel Comics assistant editor Cy Pedro Beltran suggests that this makes Deadpool responsible for the extinction of the saber-toothed tiger. Therefore, there are now nine bullets left, and the saber-toothed tiger was probably a mere amuse-bouche of who or what might be haphazardly targeted. A gun like this could kill virtually anyone, and it hopefully won’t be teased as some epic weapon only to not make a considerable splash.
Unsurprisingly, Punisher’s first thought is to use the time gun to kill those who killed his family. This would theoretically mean that they’d suddenly be alive in the present day, though, and it’d be quite the Marvel Comics status quo change if Punisher was capable of such a retcon.
That said, this is what’s so interesting about the weapon in general: it’s basically a retcon gun, so long as Marvel actually allows it to be, yet it’s almost guaranteed based on the solicitation for Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9 that either Bullseye or Black Hole will get their hands on the time gun before either Punisher or Deadpool is able to use it for their own personal gains:
PUNISHER and DEADPOOL are hunting the same weapon as BLACK HOLE... but what good’s a gun without the greatest marksman of all time to aim it? Sounds like a job for BULLSEYE!
Wade Wilson: Deadpool #9 is scheduled to be released on October 14, 2026.

The Punisher franchise follows Frank Castle, a former Marine turned vigilante after the murder of his family. Operating outside the law, Castle wages a one-man war on crime using lethal methods and military tactics. Known for its gritty realism and moral ambiguity, the franchise spans comics, films, television series, and video games, making The Punisher one of Marvel’s most enduring antiheroes.
