KUALA LUMPUR: A Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) storage facility in Desa Pinggiran Putra, Sepang, was 95 per cent destroyed in a fire last night.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call at 10.42pm, with the first fire engine arriving at the scene at 11pm.

"The fire was already raging when firefighters arrived.

"The blaze is estimated to have destroyed 95 per cent of the storage facility, but no casualties were reported," he said in a statement.

He said inspections at the scene found that the fire involved 10 containers, six transformers and several gas cylinders.

"The fire also involved a pile of cables and six diesel drums, while firefighting operations were completed at 12.50am, according to the latest report," he said.

The operation involved 17 personnel from the Dengkil fire and rescue station, assisted by personnel from the Bangi and Cyberjaya stations.
