The Institute of Leadership Coaching and Strategy has appointed Sunday Adenipekun as its new Registrar/Chief Executive

The Institute of Leadership Coaching and Strategy has appointed Sunday Adenipekun as its new Registrar/Chief Executive as part of a leadership shake-up linked to the institute’s expansion programme.

Adenipekun, who assumed duty on Monday, was appointed by the governing council following what the institute described as a “rigorous and thorough hiring process.”

He succeeds Ifeoma Adeniyi, the institute’s pioneer Registrar/Chief Executive, who has been elevated to the position of 2nd Vice President.

In a statement signed by the institute’s Media Consultant, Jide Ologun, and obtained by The PUNCH, the institute said Adenipekun’s experience in governance and business membership organisations positioned him to lead the organisation into its next phase of development.

“He is the immediate past Director of the Academy at Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, where he acted as DG/CEO severally,” the statement said.

It added that Adenipekun was a “thoroughbred governance and business membership organisation expert” with 38 years of post-qualification experience, including 24 years in not-for-profit membership organisations and 11 years in a Federal Government development financial institution.

The statement said he also had 16 years of senior management experience across three professional organisations — the Chartered Institute of Directors Nigeria, Financial Institutions Training Centre and Mission Support Agency International.

“His proven track record in institutional growth and governance in membership-based organisations strategically positions him to lead the fast-emerging institute into its next phase of development and impact,” it said.

The institute said Adenipekun had “proven ability to drive the institutional growth of our great Institute at this stage of its evolution.”

The leadership changes also affect the institute’s governing council, with three new chairmen of standing committees appointed as part of its expansion programme.

They are Morounfoluwa Oyebola, Chairman of the Membership Experience Committee; Abdulwarees-Solanke Modupe, Chairman of the Finance and General Purpose Committee; and Kolawole Oyeyemi, Chairman of the Collaboration and Strategy Committee.

Adeniyi’s elevation followed a decision of the Governing Council at its meeting on September 30, according to the statement.

The institute commended her contribution as its pioneer Registrar/Chief Executive, saying she had played a dedicated role in its development from inception.

It said, “The Governing Council extends heartfelt appreciation to the pioneer Registrar/Chief Executive, Mrs Ifeoma Adeniyi, FILCS, whose dedicated service has been commended for her contributions to the Institute from inception.”

The President and Chairman of Council, Olasunkade Azeez, in a congratulatory letter to the appointees, urged them to deploy their “talents, treasure, and time” in service of the institute.

Azeez also stressed what he described as the collective responsibility of the new leadership to accelerate the institute’s growth and development.

He urged the appointees to work towards “positioning the institute as a formidable force among professional bodies in Nigeria and beyond.”

The institute encouraged its members to welcome Adenipekun and support him as he begins his tenure.
