STMicroelectronics reveals lineup of automotive sensors for safety and driver assistance

Oselote
STMicroelectronics (STM) revealed a lineup of new automotive sensors designed to improve safety and driver-assisted features on Monday.
The new products are the first released on a mass scale following STMicro's acquisition of NXP's (NXPI) automotive and industrial MEMS sensors business in early 2026. The sensors combine combine multi-axis accelerometers and gyroscopes into a single package for OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers. The devices provide features including crash protection, rollover detection, airbag deployment, vehicle stability and radar beam stabilization.
"As a cohesive sensor set suited to multiple safety functions, these devices simplify system architecture, accelerate development, and increase flexibility to scale features and performance," said Simone Ferri, Executive Vice President of the MEMS Sub-Group at STMicroelectronics. "Strengthened by our longevity commitment and global support infrastructure, these are the first automotive safety combination sensors ready for mass-market deployment, accelerating the move to active safety."
Shares of STM increased 2% during pre-market trading on Monday.
STMicro closed on its acquisition of NXP's MEMS sensor division on Feb. 2, 2026, for $950M.
