Media urged to help shape Constituency Games implementation

Translate

The National Sports Authority’s (NSA) Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee has engaged the media as part of efforts to gather input on the implementation of the Constituency Games and strengthen support for grassroots sports development in Ghana.

The consultative engagement, held at the ESP Hotel in Accra, brought together media practitioners, NSA officials, representatives and other stakeholders within Ghana’s sporting community.

The meeting formed part of preparations for the upcoming Constituency Games, which seek to provide young people across the country with opportunities to participate in organised sports while creating a platform for talent identification and development at the community level.

The engagement also followed the recent inauguration of the NSA’s Resource Mobilisation and Partnership Committee, which has been tasked with mobilising resources and forging strategic partnerships to support sports development.

Speaking at the forum, Chairman of the Committee, Samson Deen, stressed the importance of involving the media in shaping the initiative.

“This is a highly tested initiative, and we think that moving forward, the media should be part of the decisions that the National Sports Authority will take at any point in time.

“I want us to examine whether this proposal can work beyond Accra, reach communities fairly, remain accessible and withstand public scrutiny. Where you identify a weakness, name it; where you have a stronger solution, offer us the support.”

The committee explained that the feedback from the media and other stakeholders would be critical in refining the initiative and ensuring that the Constituency Games are inclusive, accessible and responsive to the needs of communities across Ghana.

The Constituency Games are expected to serve as a major platform for grassroots participation, talent identification and sports development while expanding organised sporting activities beyond Ghana’s major centres.
