Man dies in construction-site cave-in on Soi Pridi Banomyong 14

BANGKOK — A man died after becoming trapped about 3 metres underground in a soil collapse at a construction site in Soi Pridi Banomyong 14 on Thursday evening.

Rama 199 Radio Centre received a report through the 199 emergency hotline at 18:47 of a person trapped inside a pipe at the site in Phra Khanong Nuea, Watthana district, off Sukhumvit 71 Road.

Firefighters and rescuers from Phra Khanong Fire and Rescue Station arrived at 19:02pm and found one man trapped underground at a depth of about 3 metres.

Rescuers worked to free him, but Rama 199 reported at 19:50 that he had died. His body was recovered and handed over to local police for further action.
