Jenny Groom Joins Amazon As Head Of MGM Alternative

Translate

Former NBC and BBC Studios executive Jenny Groom is moving to Amazon.

Groom, who was most recently EVP, Unscripted Development at Dancing with the Stars producer BBC Studios, has been named Head of MGM Alternative.

It is essentially the job previously held by Barry Poznick, who left a year ago. Groom starts at the end of the month.

Groom will oversee franchises such as Survivor, Shark Tank, and The Voice in the role as well as its format library and has been tasked with developing new formats and series for Prime Video and outside broadcasters and streamers.

MGM Alternative also produces a number of series in The Real Housewives franchise as well as On Patrol: Live. It encompasses Evolution Media, which produces The Real Housewives of Orange County and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as well as Vanderpump Rules and E!’s Botched, and Big Fish Entertainment, which is behind History’s Greatest Mysteries, HGTV’s Ugliest House in America and TLC’s Seeking Brother Husband.

The division was moved under Amazon MGM Studios in 2025.

Jenn Levy, Head of Nonfiction at Amazon MGM Studios, revealed the news in a note to colleagues, seen by Deadline. “Bringing in someone with Jenny’s extensive experience, on both the buying and selling side of the business, positions MGM Alternative as a key creative asset for our unscripted ambitions, and reinforces our commitment to developing and selling shows all around town,” she wrote.

Groom joined BBC Studios in January 2025 and worked on series including Nation’s Dumbest, which was renewed for a second season at Fox, and Dancing with the Stars spinoff The Next Pro.

Before that, she spent nearly two decades at NBCUniversal, where she was EVP, Entertainment Unscripted Content, and greenlit series including The Traitors and Love Island as well as worked on Jimmy Fallon’s Password and That’s My Jam and the Jane Lynch-hosted Weakest Link reboot.

“I couldn’t be more excited about what she’ll bring to our team and the future of our slate,” added Levy.
