KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, today granted an audience to Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) chairman Datuk Zolkopli Dahalan and deputy chairman Martina@Kartina Zamhari at Istana Negara here.

During the nearly hour-long audience, His Majesty was briefed on the commission’s role, functions and powers.

“His Majesty also received a briefing on the statistics of complaints that the IPCC received, as well as the status and outcomes of cases that have been resolved,” according to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page today.

According to the post, the IPCC, which began operating on Nov 1, 2023, is responsible for independently, transparently and with integrity monitoring, investigating and handling complaints of misconduct and breaches of conduct involving Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) personnel.

The commission also makes recommendations to improve the welfare and wellbeing of police personnel. — Bernama
