LOS ANGELES, Sept 15 — Quirky horror series Widow’s Bay on Monday won the Emmy for best comedy, the crowning achievement for Apple TV’s new show, that bagged a record 14 awards.
The show, starring Matthew Rhys as the mayor of an isolated — and possibly haunted — New England island, bested perennial favourites Hacks and Abbott Elementary, as well as The Bear, Margo’s Got Money Troubles, Nobody Wants This, Only Murders in the Building and Shrinking.
It broke the record for most Emmys by a comedy in a single season — a mark set just last year by Seth Rogen’s Hollywood satire The Studio. — AFP
