MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Quezon province may experience moderate to heavy rains, lightning, and strong winds on Sunday afternoon, according to the state weather bureau.

In its thunderstorm advisory issued at 12:30 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said inclement weather was expected in Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Pitogo, Gumaca, Macalelon and General Luna within the next two hours.

Pagasa advised the public “to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards, which include flash floods and landslides.”

In a separate 5 a.m. weather forecast, Pagasa said the intertropical convergence zone, or the convergence of winds from the southern and northern hemispheres, and the easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, were bringing rains to parts of Luzon.

Meanwhile, the effects of the ITCZ are expected to continue over Palawan, the Visayas, and Mindanao until Monday. /mcm
