The Premier Soccer League confirmed the two matchups following Sunday’s live draw. Fans have learned of two mouthwatering battles involving the traditional big three.

The semi-final lineup was completed on Sunday after Stellenbosch FC and Kaizer Chiefs secured their places in contrasting fashion.

SUNDOWNS TO FACE KAIZER CHIEFS, ORLADO PIRATES DRAW STELLENBOSCH

Stellenbosch FC booked their ticket with a 2-1 victory over AmaZulu FC at the Danie Craven Stadium.

Kaizer Chiefs produced a determined comeback to beat Siwelele FC by the same scoreline.

Mamelodi Sundowns had edged Golden Arrows 1-0 during the week. Defending champions Orlando Pirates did their job over Sekhukhune United on Saturday in Soweto.

The meeting between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs is arguably the standout fixture of the semi-final round.

Amakhosi will have to overcome one of the strongest sides in the country if they are to move within touching distance of ending their lengthy wait for another domestic cup triumph.

Miguel Cardoso’s Sundowns, meanwhile, will be determined to add another trophy to their collection after securing their place in the last four.

The other encounter promises just as much intrigue. Orlando Pirates face a Stellenbosch FC side that has developed a reputation for being a difficult opponent in knockout football.

The Buccaneers are chasing another Carling Knockout crown and will be eager to defend the title they won last season. However, Stellenbosch will fancy their chances of causing an upset and ending the champions’ hopes of retaining the trophy.

Both ties will be decided over 90 minutes, with the winners advancing to the Carling Knockout final.

The PSL is expected to announce the semi-final dates, venues and kick-off times in due course. Supporters now waiting to see when the four heavyweight contenders will battle for a place in the final.
