GUA MUSANG: Two men were injured after being slashed with a sword during a fight at a rubber store at Rancangan Pemulihan Tanah (RPT) Kesedar Sungai Terah yesterday.

The incident, which occurred at 8.30pm, was believed to have stemmed from a dispute over the disposal of broken mosaic tiles and damage to a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera at the store.

Gua Musang police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said preliminary investigations found that the incident occurred during a discussion where a 27-year-old man allegedly tried to pull out a sword tucked behind his back.

"One of the victims tried to stop him, leading to a struggle. The suspect then swung the sword.

"As a result, the first victim, 33, suffered an 18cm cut to his left cheek, while the second victim, 40, sustained a 5cm cut to his right arm," he said when contacted.

He said one of the injured men was still receiving treatment at a hospital.

Sik said the suspect tried to flee after the incident but was detained by members of the public before being handed over to police.

"Police also seized a sword with a wooden sheath and a knife to assist investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon," he said.
