Heart Evangelista and Raymond Gutierrez stirred online buzz about a rift brewing between them following the latter’s cryptic posts on Instagram and reports that they have unfollowed each other on the platform.

Gutierrez first intrigued netizens after he shared an Instagram Story earlier this month showing drinks being raised in a toast, which he captioned, “What a joy to have real friends! #CleanMoneyGirls.”

The post came after content creators Mimiyuuuh and Esnyr earned the ire of Evangelista and her camp last month when they joked about wanting to become a “nepo baby” who came from “clean money.”

Evangelista, who is married to Senator Chiz Escudero, was subsequently speculated by some netizens to have been alluded to in the vlog as someone whose wealth did not come from legitimate means.

The speculation gained further traction after Evangelista’s longtime personal assistant, Resty Rosell, lambasted Mimiyuuuh and appeared to interpret the remarks as a reference to the actress.

Gutierrez, meanwhile, later shared another now-expired Instagram Story featuring a reel about the recent flooding in the country.

“While others are so focused on fashion and what’s on sale or not, this is the state of our country. We deserve better from our public servants & their families,” he wrote.

Some netizens again linked the post to Evangelista, who previously opened up about being bullied over wearing a dress that was on sale during a guest appearance on the comedy talk show “Your Honor.”

“One of them said ‘Oh, I love your dress, it’s on sale right?’ Tas nagtatawanan sila. Alam mo ‘yung parang, first and foremost, anong problema na sale? Bakit ano ba damit mo?” Evangelista recalled the encounter.

On Aug. 22, eagle-eyed netizens noticed that Evangelista and Gutierrez were reportedly no longer following each other on Instagram, further fueling speculation about a falling-out between them.

However, Evangelista and Gutierrez have not confirmed that their recent statements referred to one another or addressed the rumored rift as of writing.

The latest speculation also recalls the pair’s previous falling-out in 2011, which stemmed from a rift between their respective mothers, Cecilia Ongpauco and Annabelle Rama, who was Evangelista’s co-manager then.

At the time, Evangelista and Gutierrez exchanged cryptic innuendos on air through the television programs “Party Pilipinas” and “Showbiz Central.”

“Next time, I’d appreciate it if they make parinig, it would be better if they say my name then I can address the issue,” said Evangelista then. /edv
