SINGAPORE, Oct 3 — After nearly four decades at East Coast Seafood Centre, popular restaurant Jumbo Seafood bid farewell to its flagship outlet on Wednesday (September 30).

And its legacy extended beyond the dining table.

In a social media post on Wednesday, the homegrown F&B chain said it raised a total of S$313,280 (RM1 million) in support of six organisations at its farewell and appreciation dinner, crediting the milestone to all those who supported the initiative.

The six beneficiaries are: Children’s Wishing Well, Food from the Heart, Cheng Hong Welfare Service Society, Free Food for All, Nulife Counselling and Singapore Women’s Association.

From September 21 to September 29, Jumbo Seafood also rolled out set meals, with 50 per cent of proceeds contributing to the total amount raised for charity.

“Every contribution, big or small, adds up to something greater. Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us create an impact that goes beyond the finish line,” Jumbo Seafood said.

The flagship outlet’s closure comes as East Coast Seafood Centre is set to make way for redevelopment.

The National Parks Board had informed tenants that they would need to vacate the premises this year.

Jumbo Seafood’s story began at East Coast Park in 1987.

For the past 39 years, its first outlet had been serving the brand’s iconic dishes such as chilli crab and other local dishes.

Over the decades, Jumbo Seafood expanded significantly — opening multiple outlets in Singapore as well as countries such as China, South Korea and Indonesia.

Following the flagship outlet’s closure, Jumbo Seafood has six outlets across Singapore at: Riverside Point, Dempsey Hill, Ion Orchard, Jewel Changi Airport, The Riverwalk and Resorts World Sentosa (Jumbo Premium). — AsiaOne
