Gov Abdulrazak now Sardauna of Ilorin, to be turbaned Wednesday

Ilorin, the Kwara State capital is agog as all is set for the turbanning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the Sardauna of Ilorin on Wednesday.

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, said that the turbanning of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate is in recognition of his leadership commitment to peace, unity and the remarkable developmental strides recorded across Kwara state under his administration.

Spokesperson of the monarch, Dr AbdulAzeez Arowona, said this in a statement issued yesterday. 

The statement reads: “Arrangements have been concluded for the turbaning of the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq by the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Mai-Martaba Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari as Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate on Wednesday 16th September 2026. The turbanning ceremony is scheduled to hold at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin, by 10:00am prompt.

“The title is being conferred on Governor AbdulRazaq, who is also the Chairman, Nigeria’s Governors Forum and President, Forum of Regions of Africa, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, commitment to peace, unity, and the 

remarkable developmental strides recorded across Kwara State under his administration.

“Members of the public, government functionaries, traditional title holders, religious leaders, and well-wishers are cordially invited to witness the historic ceremony”.

The Emir has, however, directed that the occasion be used to offer special prayers for continued peace, progress, and prosperity in Ilorin Emirate, Kwara State, and Nigeria at large.

Meanwhile, Danmasami of Ilorin, Engr Suleiman Alapansanpa has congratulated the governor saying it’s an honour well celebrating. “It’s a title worth celebrating, I thank God for his life. I’m very happy with him, I congratulate him from the depth of my heart and I pray that he ends well”, he told Saturday Vanguard in an interview.
