Law Roach Addresses Heated Tyra Banks Exchange on ‘Project Runway’: “I’m Not Afraid to Disagree”

Law Roach is settling his rumored beef with Tyra Banks following their heated exchange on Project Runway season 22.

While chatting with The Hollywood Reporter on the 2026 Emmys red carpet Sunday evening, the celebrity stylist said, “There’s no Tyra situation at all. I think what I bring to the show is, you know, I’m not afraid to disagree with the judges.”

“And I think that it’s a forum, and it’s there because we all bring something to it and we all bring different opinions. And if someone’s opinion differs from mine, then I say that and vice versa. I’ve had fights with Heidi [Klum]; I’ve had fights with Nina [García]; everyone, you know. For me, anybody can get the smoke,” Roach added.

Fans speculated that Roach and Banks were feuding after the pair, who serve as judges on Project Runway, clashed while giving feedback to the designers after a challenge. “You’re overstepping,” Roach said during episode five, as Banks replied, “No, you’re overstepping. You’re overtalking everybody.”

“Because everything doesn’t have to be over the top. That’s not fashion. It’s about technique, and it’s about talent. He can fucking sew,” Roach added, as Banks stated, “You’re making no damn sense.”

While chatting with THR, the stylist and longtime Zendaya collaborator also spoke about being encouraging to the designers on the show, in addition to giving tough critiques sometimes.

“I think people love to talk about when the criticism is harsh, but nobody ever talks about when it’s positive,” he said. “I’m there to just give real world advice because I know what this industry is looking for. And it’d be doing them a disservice if I didn’t push them anyway, and iron sharpens iron, right?”
