Ruggedman unveils comedy-drama series

Translate

Popular rapper, Ruggedman, is set to explore another side of his creativity with the release of his new comedy-drama series, Steve Pays The Bills, in which he serves as both producer and lead actor.

The series is scheduled to premiere on Ruggedman’s official YouTube channel, Officialruggedman, on October 10, 2026. The entertainer plays Steve, a hardworking breadwinner whose domestic life takes an unexpected turn when his younger brother comes visiting.

Ruggedman, who has featured in films such as Jim Iyke’s Bad Comments, Toyin Abraham’s The Ghost and the Tout Too, Red Circle and the upcoming Five Figurines, plays a man navigating the everyday challenges of being the primary breadwinner in his household.

The story centres on Steve’s complicated relationship with his live-in lover, Tolani, played by Motunde Sogunle, known for her role as Mr Macaroni’s skit daughter; and his younger brother, Abobinto, played by Samuel Philip.

Although Abobinto initially arrives for a visit, he soon becomes an unexpected permanent presence in Steve’s home, adding to the challenges the breadwinner faces.

Directed by Director Mankind, the series also features cameo appearances by actors and comedians, including Charles Inojie, Uzor Arokwe, Francis Odega, MC Lively, Queen Akosa and Wole Ojo.

Speaking about the project, Ruggedman said his interest in acting and production dated back to his childhood.

“I grew up watching family sitcoms, and acting and producing are things I have always wanted to do. I am glad I am getting the opportunity to do both. I am proud of my cast, and I am sure the viewers will be too,” he said.

Sogunle, who plays Tolani, said the role gave her an opportunity to explore a personality different from her own.
