Car rams SUV 5 times in Batangas road rage

A car chased down a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Lipa, Batangas then proceeded to ram it at least five times.

In a "24 Oras" report from Joseph Morong on Wednesday, security footage caught the chase sequence of two vehicles. Because of how fast they were going, the vehicles knocked down a part of the plastic barrier in the middle of the road.

The incident occurred in the early morning of Tuesday, October 13. According to the police, the chase began in Barangay Marawoy when the car overtook the SUV, which was carrying eight passengers.

The ramming began in Barangay Balintawak.

“Nag-counterflow ang suspek. As a warning ay inilawan nila. Doon nag-umpisa ang habulan. Hinabol sila ng suspek hanggang binangga ng limang beses…at different locations,” Police Lt. Col. Aleli Buaquen, Batangas Provincial Police chief said.

(The suspect counterflowed. As a warning, they flashed their lights. Then that is where the chase started. The suspect chased them and then rammed into them five times… at different locations.)

The chase ended when the vehicles reached the police station, where the suspect was arrested by police.

The suspect is now facing eight counts of attempted murder.

“Based doon sa actuation, sa acts ng suspek ay may presumed intent siya to kill yung mga pasahero ng nabangga niyang sasakyan…yung actuation niya na yun ay maaaring makapinsala o makapatay ng nakasakay doon,” Buaquen said.

(Based on the actuation, on the acts of the suspect, there is a presumed intent to kill the passengers of the vehicle he rammed… the actuation could have hurt or killed the passengers there.)

The Land Transportation Office has already issued the suspect a show cause order, on top of preventively suspending his license.
