Liza Soberano and American R&B artist H.E.R. are set to meet Filipino fans in Manila as they promote their upcoming DreamWorks Animation film, “Forgotten Island.”

The two lead voice stars will headline the “Tayo Na, Philippines!” celebration at the SM Mall of Asia Main Atrium on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m., alongside Filipino-American directors Januel Mercado and Joel Crawford and producer Mark Swift.

The Philippines will be the first international destination for the cast and filmmakers’ promotional visit, according to the film’s distributor, Universal Pictures.

The event will give local fans an opportunity to meet the team behind “Forgotten Island,” which draws heavily from Philippine culture, folklore and mythology.

Soberano and H.E.R. voice Raissa and Jo, respectively, two childhood best friends who find themselves transported to the fantastical island of Nakali after discovering a mysterious portal on the night of their high school graduation.

The pair encounter creatures from Filipino folklore, including a weredog and the dreaded manananggal, voiced by Broadway star Lea Salonga. They eventually discover that finding their way home could cost them the memories of their friendship.

“Forgotten Island” is particularly significant for Soberano as the film marks her first Hollywood co-lead voice role. She made her Hollywood debut in the 2024 comedy horror film “Lisa Frankenstein.”

H.E.R., whose real name is Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, said the project is another opportunity to highlight her Filipino heritage. The Grammy and Academy Award-winning artist previously expressed pride in being part of a film that incorporates Filipino folklore and culture.

“I’m so proud to be Filipino and Black,” H.E.R. said of the project in an interview earlier this year.
