Saoirse Ronan addresses husband Jack Lowden's James Bond rumours

Translate

Saoirse Ronan has broken her silence about rumours her husband Jack Lowden has been cast as the next James Bond. Ever since Daniel Craig left the role of 007 with the release of No Time to Die in 2021, fans of the spy franchise have wondered who will replace him.

Several names have been the focus of fan and media attention over the last five years, with Jack garnering attention of late.

This speculation intensified when his Slow Horses co-star Gary Oldman suggested that the next Bond has been cast and threw his support behind Lowden for the role.

Many took this as confirmation that Lowden would be taking his martini shaken and not stirred in the near future, though the actor has neither confirmed nor denied the rumours.

Little Women star Ronan, who tied the knot with Lowden in 2024, spoke about the speculation in a new interview with the Associated Press, though she did not give too much away.

"Well, Gary Oldman thinks he’s James Bond," she began. "[That’s] its own thing. We’re kind of getting on with our life, to be honest.

"We have plenty of other things to be dealing with. So, yeah, it’s not really a subject that’s coming up in our house, to be honest. The dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made – we’re most focused on that."

Lowden could even star alongside his wife in the Bond universe, with the Lady Bird actor previously expressing her desire to play a villain in the franchise.

"I want to go dark," she told Empire in August. "I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious.

"I think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain. Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there’s something interesting in that dramatically. So I would love to do more of that."

Writer Steven Knight has not addressed whether or not Bond has been cast yet, while James Bond producer Amy Pascal told fans that the next actor to play Ian Fleming's MI6 agent will likely be revealed by the end of the year.
