Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were confirmed as the final two men’s cricket semifinalists after rain washed out their quarterfinals against Malaysia and Nepal respectively on Tuesday, September 29.
Both teams advanced on account of being the higher-ranked team in the clash. Monday’s India-Afghanistan and Pakistan-Hong Kong, China quarterfinals were decidedly similarly after inclement weather intervened.
As a result, India will now face Sri Lanka and Pakistan will play Bangladesh in the semifinals on Thursday, October 1.
If those matches are also rained off, India and Pakistan will advance to the final. If the final is also washed out, the gold medal will be shared by both teams.
