'Please take the job': Trump offers UFC CEO Dana White position of White House Press Secretary

White, 57, is one of Trump's closest and longest-standing friends, speaking on Trump's behalf at the Republican Party conventions in 2016, 2020, and 2024.

US President Donald Trump announced that he offered Dana White, the president and CEO of the UFC, the position of White House Press Secretary in a post on Truth Social on Saturday.

“I am pleased to announce that the Great Dana White, a violent Fighter and Warrior, has been offered the job of Press Secretary of the United States,” Trump said.

He added that he requested White bring several mixed martial arts fighters with him to serve as assistants, “even though some are not from our country.”

“We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other,” he added. “Dana, please take the job!”

White, 57, is one of Trump's closest and longest-standing friends.

The relationship between the two began more than two decades ago, when Trump hosted UFC events at his Atlantic City casinos, at a time when the organization was struggling to find venues that would agree to host its events.

Since then, White has become one of Trump's loyal supporters, speaking on his behalf at the Republican Party conventions in 2016, 2020, and 2024, and even participating in the celebrations of his victory in the last presidential election.

Trump, a die-hard fan of UFC fights, usually attends the organization's events and sits next to White, and last June even hosted a UFC event on the White House grounds to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States' independence.

White has previously made it clear that he has no political ambitions and is not interested in a government position.
