Skusta Clee under fire for making fans wait in rain before canceling Parañaque show

Filipino rapper Skusta Clee drew criticism from netizens after he failed to perform at the “Grand Youth Night” in Parañaque City on Friday, Aug. 28, despite thousands of attendees waiting for his set in heavy rain.

Clee was scheduled as the main and final performer of the free concert, which drew nearly 10,000 young attendees. According to reports, some fans had been waiting for more than five hours for the rapper to take the stage.

However, heavy rainfall and strong winds hit the venue before his scheduled performance, with water reportedly reaching the stage, instruments, and production equipment.

GT Entertainment, Clee’s management, addressed the cancellation of the artist’s performance through an official statement posted on Facebook after the event.

“Our artist, Skusta Clee, and his team arrived at the venue in Parañaque and were present, prepared, and ready to fulfill tonight’s scheduled performance,” the management said.

“However, the heavy rainfall and strong winds raised serious safety concerns. Water began reaching the stage, instruments, and production equipment. After assessing the conditions, management determined that proceeding with the performance would pose a risk to our artist, musicians, crew, technical personnel, and equipment,” it added.

GT Entertainment said the decision to cancel was made by management after assessing the conditions at the venue.

“The decision not to proceed was made by management based on the conditions present at the venue and our responsibility to protect the safety of everyone under our care,” the statement read.

The management apologized to those who attended the event and waited despite the weather.

“We sincerely apologize to everyone who came to see the performance and waited despite the weather. We understand the disappointment and appreciate your understanding,” it said.

The statement, however, was met with a wave of criticism from disappointed attendees.

One netizen said the cancellation disregarded the trust of the thousands of people who showed up for the performance.

“We cannot condone such behavior. A total of 9,653 people waited with anticipation for his performance. Ang tunay na talento ay ibinabahagi, ang passion ay hindi ipinagkakait, at ang sining ay hindi dapat maging dahilan ng pagkasakit ng damdamin ng tao. When an artist steps on stage, it is not just about the music—it is about honoring the trust and excitement of the audience. To disappoint them is to disregard the very essence of art: connection, respect, and responsibility,” the netizen said.

Another attendee said they would have understood the cancellation if Clee had at least appeared onstage to greet the crowd.

“Sana man lang nagpakita ka at bumati. Halos 10,000 ang pumunta para mapanood ka at handang magpaulan. Sana naisip… Dun ka na lang rin naman. Matatanggap sana namin ’e. Na katulad na naghintay sa ’yo at nagpakabasa sa ulan,” the netizen said.

A third attendee similarly questioned why Clee did not personally address the crowd when he was in fact already there.

“Sana naging makatao din naman kayo na madaming naghintay nabasa sa ulan para hintayin artist nyo. Kung iniisip ang instrument sana umakyat man lang siya sa stage at siya nag-explain,” the netizen expressed.
