MANILA, Philippines — The maintenance chief of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Las Piñas – Muntinlupa District Engineering Office has been relieved from duty following reports of delayed response to calamities, among others. 

In a memorandum dated August 29, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the removal of engineer Loreto Balena Jr. from his duties, effective immediately.

“In view of repeated reports concerning your unsatisfactory performance, lack of urgency, and delayed response to calamities, you are hereby relieved of your duties as Maintenance Chief of the Las Piñas–Muntinlupa District Engineering Office, effective immediately,” the memorandum read.

Dizon directed Balena to conduct an inventory, accomplish, complete and sign all pending documents and deliverables, and turn over his papers and official records to the office.
