La Mesa Ecopark opens Phase 2 with wider green spaces, ‘BiodiverCity’

MANILA, Philippines – La Mesa Ecopark strengthens its role in championing “BiodiverCity” or biodiversity in the city, environmental protection and water security as it recently hosted the La Mesa Ecopark its Executive Committee (ExeCom) meeting, welcomed ECO-Content Creators for an exclusive preview and reopened Phase 2.
The La Mesa Ecopark ExeCom is composed of duly designated representatives from the Quezon City Government and Manila Water Company and chaired by the MWSS. The La Mesa Ecopark ExeCom provides overall direction and guidance to Manila Water Foundation on the management, stewardship, and future development of one of the last few remaining green spaces in Metro Manila.
The La Mesa Ecopark Management Team shared updates on its park rehabilitation efforts, future developments, advocacy programs, and key accomplishments from the past two years. Since the reopening, the La Mesa Ecopark has welcomed 276,202 visitors, planted 20,872 native forest tree species, engaged 170 partners and 5,974 volunteers who clocked 41,140 volunteer hours for environmental conservation efforts.

The La Mesa Ecopark ExeCom also approved several proposals, including the implementation of a new ₱50 entrance fee for non-Quezon City residents. This is foreseen to further support the park’s operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement. Quezon City residents continue to enter for free upon presenting their Quezon City ID. The La Mesa Ecopark ExeCom sustained its commitment to advancing programs that align with the environmental and sustainability goals of the Quezon City Government and the MWSS by ensuring that La Mesa Ecopark remains a vibrant green space that inspires all for climate action.
La Mesa Ecopark invited ECO-Content Creators to anticipate the official reopening of La Mesa Ecopark Phase 2. Tapping the power of social media, content creators were given an exclusive preview with a session highlighting the important trees, bird and animal species that call the La Mesa Ecopark their home. The digital creators known for environmental and tourism advocacies were shown the new Phase 2 facilities including the pavilions, the lagoon, Neptune Pond and the scenic Flower Hill. The content creators enjoyed fishing and group activity offerings in the La Mesa Ecopark that enable a fun outdoor experience, healthy lifestyle and a meaningful reconnection with nature.
As the La Mesa Ecopark enters an exciting chapter with all three operational phases, the ExeCom commended the dedication of the La Mesa Ecopark Management Team for championing environmental conservation, reforestation, and the promotion of “biodiverCity”.
