A 14-year-old boy was arrested for allegedly abusing a cat he was entrusted to care for at home, leading to its death. It is understood that the police received a report from a veterinarian at a veterinary clinic in Sham Shui Po last Monday, stating that the arrestee had brought an 8-month-old grey and white long-haired cat for medical treatment. After examination, it was found that the cat had blood on its mouth and nose, was soaked all over, and had fluid in its abdomen; it was later confirmed dead. The veterinarian suspected that the cat had been cruelly treated. Sources say that after police investigation, it was discovered that the cat belonged to the arrestee's classmate, who had entrusted the cat to the arrestee's care while temporarily away from Hong Kong. The arrestee had previously slapped and kicked the cat at his residence in Cheung Sha Wan. The police immediately arrested the teenager for 'cruelty to animals,' and the case has been handed over to the second team of the Sham Shui Po Police District Criminal Investigation Support Unit.
